One user commented that the Seachem Flourite Dark is more of a dark grey than black, but it still looks great in tanks. When putting this substrate in your tank, it is important to rinse it well. Otherwise, the user will have cloudy water for several days. One user recommended rinsing it a mesh colander until the water is clear. Another user suggests pouring the water slowly into a large bowl to slow the water's entry into a non-all in one tank. The substrate takes a while to settle after being put into the tank. It can take 12 to 24 hours for the water to become crystal clear. One user suggested waiting until the tank has reached its desired water level before continuing with the pour.
