The cards are thick and have a slight sheen to them. Customers have reported success when using Sharpies, acrylic paint, paint pens, gel pens, pencil, water-based markers, pigment markers, oil-based metallic markers, and Chinese calligraphy brush and ink pens. Fountain pens and rollerball pens also work, but require careful attention to drying and blotting. Ballpoint pens do not work on these cards. The product is packaged well, with each stack of cards individually shrink-wrapped and placed between sturdy cardboard. One customer laminated the cards and added a coin magnet to make a classroom review activity for high school students. However, the cards have a thin wax coating that can prevent some coloring materials from applying or cause smudging. Despite this issue, customers have generally been satisfied with the quality of the cards.
