This kit includes only the filter and not SD-4 solids deflector. The filter needs to be cleaned every 3 to 5 years, depending on septic health. The device has no lock and stays in place with a friction fit, with the long end fitting into the pipe exiting the gray water and the small end connecting to the leaching field pipe. Access to the yellow filter for cleaning is necessary. It needs a tank cover or lid above the tank output pipe to install this device.
