The Mineralab Mohs Hardness Test Kit is manufactured in Prescott, Arizona, and has been on the market since the mid 1960s. It is primarily designed to measure mineral hardness and tests are done using a series of tools in ascending order of hardness, using a stylus to scratch the surface of the subject material. Although it is not designed to test carbon steel or differentiate phenacite from quartz, it is suitable for concrete testing, mineral identification and determining the hardness of a natural element.
